Social, Behavioral, and Economic COVID Coordinating Center Welcomes Researchers to Third Annual Meeting

The COVID coordinating center at ICPSR welcomed 50 guests in person at ISR-Thompson and an additional 25 participants online May 9-10, 2024. Attendees are researchers from the 15 research teams that comprise the SBE COVID Consortium, their NIH program officers and project scientists, recipients of pilot project grants from SBE CCC, and the COVID coordinating center staff.

The meeting consisted of presentations from consortium members on their research progress; because this was the third annual meeting, many consortium members and pilot grant recipients were able to share recent project findings that prompted meaningful and inspiring dialogue across disciplines during Q&A and discussion.

Invited oral presenters

This year the coordinating center invited early career scholars for 3 oral presentations and 12 poster presenters to share their research connected to COVID-19. The oral presentations and posters were a success and highlight, with the two strongest presenters being awarded a nominal cash award for their impressive posters.

During the meeting there was also the opportunity to attend breakout sessions for conversation in small groups as well as opportunities for attendees to socialize and get to know each other. Before the two-day meeting SBE CCC hosted a pre-meeting reception for attendees to gather, mingle, and enjoy hors d’oeuvres together.
