Baby FACES Spring 2022 Data Released by the Child and Family Data Archive!

The Child and Family Data Archive (CFData) is pleased to announce the release of the Early Head Start Family and Child Experiences Survey (Baby FACES) Spring 2022 (ICPSR 38660)

The Early Head Start Family and Child Experiences Survey (Baby FACES) is a nationally representative descriptive study of Early Head Start. Using a cross-sectional design, the third and final cohort of Baby FACES was fielded in the spring of 2022 and focuses on the processes in the classrooms/home visits that support responsive relationships, including teacher-child relationships, staff-parent relationships, and parent-child relationships.

While the second cohort (Baby FACES 2018) explored classroom processes and teacher-child relationships, Baby FACES 2022 concentrates mostly on the home visit context and explores home visiting processes and home visitor-parent and parent-child relationships with observation-based measures of home visits and parent-child interactions. The 2022 data collection includes surveys of children's parents, teachers, home visitors, and center and program directors, and observations of classrooms and home visits. Parents and staff (teachers or home visitors) also completed child reports. Finally, parents of children 12 months or older in the home-based option were observed in a semi-structured play task.
